Changes to script

I tried to make all my actresses follow the script I produced accurately. However when I came to film with Maddi I realised that following a script would not be possible because you could tell it was scripted. Instead we decided that If I spoke to her about OCD and gave her an idea on the types of things she should say this would work better. We then decided to do this and found that the conversation flowed a lot better and it seemed a lot more natural. This was good as this was the feeling I wanted to get across to my audience in that interview.

First draft for my magazine article

This is my first draft for my magazine article. However this is very rough as this is not the picture I am going to use and have just inserted the writing in on Photoshop. However this is similar to how I want my real one to look. The feedback I got from this draft is that I should make sure I use a teenage girl as my documentary is aimed at teenagers and instead of just having a plain colored background I should have either a brick background or maybe a really messy or really tidy bedroom to show that it is about OCD. From my feedback I have decided that I am going to use the teenage girl that features in my documentary as being the other girls with a cleaning OCD and therefore have her holding up the sign in her spotless bedroom that is also featured in the documentary. I still want to keep the logo but have more writing in the corners and have more information about my documentary in one of the corners such as what time it is on and what date it is on to make sure the audience know more about it.

Outline of my magazine article

Script for radio advert

In the UK twelve out of everyone one thousand people have OCD and a lot of these people suffer in silence. A brand new documentary on BBC3 follows a young girl on a journey to find out more about learning to live with OCD after hiding her obsessions and compulsions from everyone around her for five years. Go with her on her mission to meet a leading psychologist and other people suffering so she can end the stigma of OCD and show other young girls that It's okay to be different from everyone else and that if you have OCD it doesn't have to change your life. BBC3, Tuesday 15th March at 7Pm.

Final Ideas for my ancillary tasks

Documentary Advert

My final idea for my documentary magazine article/advert is to have a picture of me or the other girl or both of us who have OCD as the big picture and the main focus and then have them holding up a piece card that says "try living with OCD". I want the background behind the girl dark gradient so that it isn't all completely dark but still given the feeling of the documentary having a lot of emotions in it. I also want it to have a BBC3 logo in one corner and in the other corner have written "Two part documentary on how to live with OCD". In the top left or right corner I also want to write "Mental health, end the stigma". The main colours I want to use is dark colours such as dark blue, black and dark purple.

Radio Advert

The things I want to mention in my radio advert are a brief description of what the documentary is about, saying about going on a journey to find out how to live with OCD. I also want to say something about ending the stigma attached to mental health and the end with the channel its on, the date and the time.
I want the beginning to include facts about OCD and mental health in general by having the opening of the radio advert saying about statistics about how many people have it and the age ranges etc. I want to start with this because it is a powerful beginning full of facts, then have the description about the documentary and about ending the stigma to it and the end with the facts about when its on. I have decided to do this because it will be short and straight to the point so it sticks in the audiences head.

Documentary Adverts

These are the three documentary adverts I found that I like best. I like the ones done by BBC3 the most because they have such a powerful message to the audience. There is not a lot going on in the adverts and they focus specifically on what the documentary is about. My favourite one is the last one because it focuses on the girl who is holding up a sign that is used to confuse the audience because they do now know what it is about, with a dark background and the girl wearing dark clothes to show that it is a documentary filled with different emotions. It also has small bits of writing telling the audience more about what the documentary is about. I think some aspects of the last advert such as the dark background and the girl holding up a sign is what I want to use in my advert because it is very effective.
